My company recently added me to the interview team to conduct technical interviews for potential developers.
So far, I've only done regular interviews, but today, I did an interview that involved a live coding challenge.
I hated doing it. I'm sitting here, watching him code. He's nervous, because it's a job interview. And I just want to help him out, but this is not a pair programming exercise; it's to see how he solves the problem I've given him.
I see him making mistakes and I want to be like, "Hey, you missed X in that SQL statement", but I've got to let him sweat it out and make these mistakes, and debug his own code.
It's awful.
