Husband, Father, Software Engineer (PHP, go, etc.). Lover of Star Trek and anime.

Looking for other things to do, such as writing, acting, voice acting, but not really finding the time for it. Maybe when my kids are a little older, I'll get back on stage.

Feeling pretty bleak about the future of the United States. #NeverTrump

I like to put TV on in the background while I'm working. One of those work from home benefits. On an average day of 8 hours of work, after taking out time for meetings, I can usually watch anywhere from 8 to 12 episodes of TV (depending on the length of the episodes, of course).

But today, I spent most of the morning, and some of the afternoon pairing with a new developer on the team, so I couldn't have my TV on in the background while we worked through his stuff together. So now, I'm almost 6 hours into my 8 hour day, and I'm just now finishing my second episode.

And even though it makes absolutely no sense at all, my brain has somehow come to associate the amount of TV I've watched while working with my productivity. And so, somehow, I feel like I've had a less productive day because I've watched less TV, even though that obviously makes no sense at all.
