I've been ghosted by job recruiters, but from romantic interests? No.

I ghosted once. I still feel bad about it even though it was about eighteen years ago.

It was a cowardly thing to do, and I only did it because I wanted to avoid the discomfort of telling her that I just wasn't that into her anymore.

I shouldn't have done it, and still sometimes think I should look her up and apologize. I mean, she's married now, so I'm sure she got over it, but I still feel bad.

@danjones000 hi Dan, thanks for sharing.

I suspect most people ghost for exactly that reason: avoid discomfort. 18 years is a long time, and i hope that you feel better (instead of bad), when the time is right.

I haven't been ghosted romantically but can attest to job recruiters and people I thought were friends (met a new partner) doing so.
