Ziggy is the mole at Project Quantum Leap?
Are they sure that's actually Ziggy, and not Lothos?
That was some menacing lights she was showing at the end there.
when a politician says "if they can do it to Trump, they can do it to you" he doesn't mean YOU you, he means other rich people you. that's the you he's talking to.
There was a layoff in my company today. My job is still secure, but a developer on my team was let go, as well as one of our QA engineers.
This is the second round of layoffs in less than six months, so it probably goes without saying that this has left me feeling unsettled.
My company works in creator marketing (i.e. influencers selling stuff on Instagram). We got hit pretty hard last year when Meta cut off access to one of our primary sources of information, and we lost some customers.
After the last round of layoffs, they promised that that round was intended to ensure that we wouldn't need to do this again.
The other engineer on my team who was laid off was a great guy, and a really good engineer. He's been instrumental in the development of our upcoming integration with TikTok. It's going to be really hard to keep working on it without him.
Anyway, I don't really know how I'm feeling about all this right now. But this all sucks pretty hard. And, I guess I'll have to see what our CEO says about all this tomorrow in our All Hands meeting.
It's expensive to be poor. It's ironic but true. You get charges and fees for everything. Higher interest rates. Overdraft fees. Late fees. Having only enough to buy what you need right now instead of buying in bulk. Losing your job because you can't afford to get your car fixed. Losing your car because you don't have a job. Even your mental faculties are drained, as you are forced to continually eat low-nutrition foods, "sleep" in miserable conditions, and be exposed to toxins and lack of medical treatment. The lack of liquidity wipes you out. Life really does kick you while you're down.
You can't tell someone trapped in that vicious cycle to "just" get a job or "just" make responsible decisions. Sometimes, no amount of good decision-making can stop the vortex sucking them down. So the next time you are tempted to place moral judgment on someone who lives in poverty, think twice.
Signed, someone who has been both a Have and a Have-Not.
Someone asked, "Are you open to try different IDE or Text editor to improve your workflow?"
So I'm sharing a quote from myself from March 9, 2017:
"Some things you can change, like boy/girlfriend, house, car.
Some things you just can't change, like your fav text editor."

My good sir, is this man a hero, or a criminal?
06:35 I have felt ‘under the weather’. Which is a way of saying ‘unwell’. What this has meant is that I haven’t been out IN the weather and I have missed it. Going out in all weathers is what uplifts me. So no new photographs for three days. So this morning I’m going out.
O7:58. Took two photographs from the hill. Some cropping and zooming in. This one is the more dramatic of the two.

Any experienced programmer worth their salt will tell you that •producing• code — learning syntax, finding examples, combining them, adding behaviors, adding complexity — is the •easy• part of programming.
The hard part: “How can it break? How will it surprise us? How will it change? Does it •really• accomplish our goal? What •is• our goal? Are we all even imagining the same goal? Do we understand each other? Will the next person to work on this understand it? Should we even build this?”
