Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is going to feature an episode where all the characters are Muppetized (with puppets created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop). I love this show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az-cm8gmKSM
TIL the etymology of boycott. “When Boycott set about evicting 11 tenants, the locals had had enough. The Mayo branch of the Irish Land League urged Boycott’s employees to withdraw their labor and began a campaign of isolation against Boycott.”

Tim Russ and George Takei coming back as Tuvok and Sulu!
I can't wait!
I still have a Twitter account. I don't post there anymore, but I haven't deleted it yet, because I have years of posts on there, and, although I have them backed up, I want to still be able to see them. I'm just not ready yet to delete my account.
Anyway, sometimes I'll follow a link to Twitter, and I'll have notifications waiting for me. Invariably, I have a notification for a post from Elon Musk. I've never followed him, and have never commented on any of his posts. But, Twitter is still trying to force his posts on me. I even click the "See less often" button in my notifications whenever they add one of his posts there, but there's always one in my notifications every time I go to the site.
Today, I finally just decided to block him. I bet I'll still get notifications for him, though.
Remember four years ago when we were all talking about UFOs that the Pentagon finally admitted they'd been tracking for years?
Good times. Simpler times.

My 9-year-old has just started getting into programming. He started playing around with GB Studio to make a Gameboy game. Then, he wanted to know how GB Studio itself was made, so I pulled up the Github repo, and showed him the source, and now he wants to start learning TypeScript so he can modify GB Studio itself.
So, I started showing him how TypeScript works, and the basics of git.
When I was his age, the first thing I programmed was a game that printed my name in different colors, repeating over and over until I hit Return (that was on a Commodore 64). Times have certainly changed.
You ever have that problem where you go to get yourself some ice cream, but when you open the carton, there's 1½ servings left, and you're left with the difficult decision of eating half of it, and feeling like you didn't quite get enough, eating ¾ of it, and definitely not having enough next time, or eating the whole thing and feeling like a pig?
The latest episode of #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds, Wedding Bell Blues, has certainly caused quite a bit of controversy in the Trek community. Just have a look at this debate (spoilers, of course) over on Memory Alpha (the Trek wiki). It seems like they were trying to settle controversies, like how the Augment Virus was meant to settle the debate about Klingon appearance, but they just raised many more questions than they actually answered.

My nine-year-old has started getting into programming, and I'm trying to figure out how to ease him into it.
When I was his age, I learned using the Advanced BASIC Programming manual that came with the family Commodore 64. That was obviously a different time. It seems he already wants to learn Typescript.
He started with making a Gameboy game with GB Studio, but now wants to modify GB Studio itself to do new stuff.
Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions on a decent git GUI client that works on Linux. The kids' computer runs Fedora. I think I'm going with git-cola, but would love any other suggestions.
