I've been using this account as my primary for about a week now, and I'm think I'm settled on using it for the foreseeable future, so I guess it's time to do another post.

I'm a dad of four kids, and a web developer. I have a college degree in (or ) and had aspirations of being an actor. I kind of fell into web development as a career. It was a hobby back in high school, and I just needed to pay some bills after college, so I ended up doing this.

I always have aspirations to do other things, but for now, I'm pretty happy spending most of my time as a dad and husband.

Some day, I'd like to get back into , or maybe do some . I also enjoy and will, from time to time, post some , usually from somebody's .

I love , and usually watch at least one episode nearly every day. I like all really, though, as well as . I used to read a lot, but find I don't have as much time or mental capacity for it as I used to. I also enjoy watching , and have really been enjoying the new episodes of lately.

Feel free to follow me if you think we have similar interests, and I may follow you back, if I think likewise. 👋

Son: What's Frogger?

Me: 🙄 It's Crossy Roads with a frog.

I've failed him as a parent.

My five-year-old decided to put out milk and pretzel sticks for Santa, and some carrots for the reindeer.

A couple Christmas presents in bags on the floor. In front of them are two bowls and a cup. The bowl on the left is sea blue and contains several carrot slices. The bowl in the middle, colored purple, curtains pretzel sticks. The cup on the right is blue and half full. The contained liquid isn't visible.

One person's trash is another person's evidence.

I just looked at my last Trakt year in review, to see my watching habits during the past year. It's my last one, because I'm canceling my VIP subscription, and the Year in Review is a feature only for paying members.

It's a shame, since I've been a paying for well over a decade. I've been a paying member for longer than most of my children have been alive. I just can't justify $60/year on it, especially when that's quadruple what I'm currently paying.

Maybe next year I'll build my own trakt Year in Review using their API, assuming they don't start charging for that.

Anyway, most of my viewing this year has been dominated by me rewatching Scrubs before season 10 comes out in a couple months.

A few weeks ago, I was driving and saw a chicken crossing the road. I started to laugh at the absurdity of it all, until a hawk tried to swoop down and snatch it up. The hawk failed because it flew into my car, and turned around in confusion.

But, I like to think that the hawk was underestimating the chicken. Maybe the chicken knew she was being tracked and set a trap for her predator.

A chicken strands on top of a hawk. The hawk seems to have been defeated soundly in a one-on-one fight.

Why does my ten year old son think I don't know how websites and apps work when I've been building them for about thirty years, professionally for twenty?
