I've been using this account as my primary for about a week now, and I'm think I'm settled on using it for the foreseeable future, so I guess it's time to do another #introduction post.
I'm a dad of four kids, and a web developer. I have a college degree in #Theater (or #Theatre) and had aspirations of being an actor. I kind of fell into web development as a career. It was a hobby back in high school, and I just needed to pay some bills after college, so I ended up doing this.
I always have aspirations to do other things, but for now, I'm pretty happy spending most of my time as a dad and husband.
Some day, I'd like to get back into #acting, or maybe do some #VoiceActing. I also enjoy #writing and will, from time to time, post some #MicroFiction, usually from somebody's #WritingPrompt.
I love #StarTrek, and usually watch at least one episode nearly every day. I like all #SciFi really, though, as well as #fantasy. I used to read a lot, but find I don't have as much time or mental capacity for it as I used to. I also enjoy watching #anime, and have really been enjoying the new episodes of #Bleach lately.

The ironic part of trying to get a diagnosis for ADHD is that I have to focus long enough on the task of finding a psychiatrist/psychologist to get the diagnosis, but it's kind of tedious task, and I'm getting easily distracted.

Yesterday, I took an online version of the Adult ADHD screener (Self Report Scale, aka ASRS-v1.1).
It said that I show a high consistency in my scores for inattentive ADHD, and that I have a strong interest-driven focus pattern.
None of this was at all a surprise to me. I've been suspecting that I have ADHD for some time, but since this is a self-screener, it's not surprising that it shows the exact results that I expected to get, based on what I've seen in myself.
But I've been meaning to get a proper assessment for some time. Getting an official diagnosis might help me. I've got three kids with ADHD, so me having it would be no surprise. And getting this unofficial assessment is certainly encouraging me to get a proper assessment from a psychologist.
But now, I'm starting to question stuff about myself. If I start my day with a caffeinated beverage, am I self-medicating as a substitute for something like Adderall? When my mind starts to wander, am I bored, or is it my ADHD, or both?
